São Paulo Saracens Bandeirantes received last week an important visit for the club and the sport development in the country. Current coach of Saracens Academy, the British Ian Vass attended workshop with coaches and the teams from the kits to the top and also presented clinics dedicated to men and women categories, in the Ibirapuera field, in Sao Paulo.
After weeks of intense activities, the CEO of Band-Sarries, Antonio Martoni, celebrated the coming of the traditional former English and French clubs player: “The training with Ian Vass last week were extremely useful, as well as the workshops, especially in relation to the new game concepts taught to our coaches. New techniques were introduced, such as training off-loads (training pass after contact) and defensive positioning in both the XVs and the Seven a Side modalities.” reported Martoni.
The British coach visit is part of the partnership established at the end of 2013 with the Saracens FC, also from England, one of the major rugby teams in Europe. “We should also highlight the proactive and dynamics posture of Ian, who was always available for any questions and clarifications. Our coaches had the opportunity to learn, observe, practice and dispel doubts on various topics,” praised Martoni.
The closure of the visit was also in Ibirapuera, in front of 40 childs from the elementary state school Jardim Iguatemi, from São Paulo east zone, plus two adult men’s teams, the USP Law Sudents Rugby team from San Francisco University, and the Tatupé Rugby Club, who also attended the clinic with Ian. Athletes of the base categories of Band-Sarries also took the day with the English coach.
“The Rugby clinic with the U8, U13 and U15 was very special. Children, more than 100, vibrated with Ian training and tips, who in turn liked it and was delighted with the high number of young athletes in Band-Sarries,” Martoni noted. “I would like to give special thanks to Saracens FC in England, that within our planning, as a partnership, provided usa a special week with many lessons to learn for all of us lovers of Rugby .” he concluded.
