Event mark to next Saturday (20) wants to make stronger the base categories and form athletes to the Sport that backs to the Olympics on Rio 2016
São Paulo Saracens Bandeirantes (Band-Sarries), traditional Ibirapuera’s rugby club, will receive on next Saturday (20) more that 50 children at Band-Sarries Clinic, for schools that want put the students in the sport that comes back to the Olympics at 2016, in Rio de Janeiro. The public schools Jardim Iguatemi and Escola Heidy will visit the club from 9h15 am.
Since 3 years ago the club makes this type of action with the schools from São Paulo to introduce rugby for the young students and bring new athletes to the sport. Before the children are taking to the field, a Band-Sarries group goes to the school to make a presentation of the clinic to start the interest of parents and teachers.
“Recently we wore at Jardim Iguatemi and the children Love it our presentation. After a few days, some of the students start to training with us, bring by their parents. This is the goal and the results are very good”, says Valter “Japinha” Sugarava, coordinator of the clinic, player and trainer of the mail team of Band-Sarries.
Making the future – The comeback tell by Japinha can be verify on actions. Between the athletes of the club that came from schools is Gabriel Paganini, that achieve the nationals juvenal team of Brazil in July of this year and make a training program of a month in Saint Albans, England, on the training center from Saracens, one of the main clubs in Europe and the new partner of Band since December, 2013.
“Today, the clubs are realizing that when the base is strong, it is possible to form a good team after a while, our adult team is form by 40% of athletes that came from the base, like Laurent and JP. Me, for an example, jus start to play with 21 years old, before I don’t even met rugby.” says Japinha, the biggest scorer of 2014 Paulista Championship.
The Band-Sarries clinic will be open by the club CEO, Antonio Martoni, who will receive the childrens, tell the history of the squad with pictures and trophies and the rugby path Brazil. “Be a part of some sport is great, play rugby is even better. ““In mine experience I can guarantee: does not ecxist something better that play for Band-Sarries” says Martoni, which have the mission to introduce to the future athletes the five values of world rugby: integrity, respect, discipline, passion and solidarity.
Great visit this Thursday (18) – Band-Sarries receive in their Field, during training on this Thursday, one of the most important athletes that ware the club jersey. The legendary Mario Domingues, the number eight and captain of Band for almost 20 years will visit the club and friends. Today, Marião is rugby coach in Vancouver, Canadá. Beside Band-Sarries, the athlete defends the national team of Brazil as captain for tem years. Band will reunite the veterans for a touch and a barbecue in Ibirapuera.
