Eager for season start, the “Bandetes” (as São Paulo Saracens Bandeirantes Women’s Sevens team is Known) start in 2015 representing the Brazilian team in the first stage of Woman’s Sevens World Series. Bruna Lotufo and Juliana “Juka” Esteves were called to the world tournament which will take place between the 7th and February at the Arena Barueri, in São Paulo, Brazil. The Brazilian national team will face in the qualifying round the teams from Australia, Fiji and China.
“It’s an honor to be called for a major tournament of the Brazilian team and have another opportunity to play against the world’s best rugby players. Happiness is even greater for being a tournament at home with the family crowd, friends and all Bandetes to support us” says Bruna Lotufo.
Juliana Esteves also comments on the weekend “There are 5 years so far that I play Rugby for both the national team and in Bandeirantes Saracesn. Who is involved with the sports notice that the structure and physical skills of rugby players in Brazil has evolved a lot in recent times. The sport is growing, this is the second WSWS round that happens here in Brazil, it really is a great honor to be part of it all, to represent the country with the home crowd”.
The Brazil sevens teams participate in all stages of female and male world series for the first time in 2015, providing athletes and technical staff a great learning as preparation for the Olympics of 2016 also hosted in Brazil.
