São Paulo Saracens to join Global Network
One of the leading rugby clubs in Brazil has agreed to join the Saracens Global Network. Bandeirantes RFC will now be known as Sao Paulo Saracens Bandeirantes, and the growing network of clubs sharing the same name, vision and colours now includes leading clubs in Abu Dhabi, Russia, Malaysia, Tonga, and Brazil.
Nigel Wray, Saracens chairman, said: “We are delighted to have agreed a partnership to create Sao Paulo Saracens Bandeirantes. Brazil is currently the focal point of the sporting world, with the country preparing to host the football World Cup next year and the summer Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro in 2016. The growing passion for rugby is clear and obvious, particularly in Sao Paulo, and we look forward to supporting the development of our game in Brazil.”
Joaquin Gabriel Mina, president of Bandeirantes RFC, added: “Our clubs share the same ambition to grow rugby as a sport and to embrace projects that benefit the wider community. We are thrilled to become a partner club within the Saracens Global Network because Sao Paulo Saracens Bandeirantes will benefit from expertise both on and off the field.
